Hey all,
Just a note on the publicity surrounding the Ursas. This has been a problem
in the past, but it's more noticeable this year with the increased interest
in the awards. Here we are, 24 hours or more after the announcement of the
winners, and there are people asking online if anyone's heard anything. The
official site has nothing. The only information anyone has is a LiveJournal
post--in an unrelated community!--with partial information, and a similarly
incomplete Wikifur entry.
If you want the Ursas to be taken seriously as awards, the information
needs to be disseminated faster and better. At the very least, the official
page needs to be updated the night of the award ceremony, or the following
morning--before the person who presented the awards can make a "to the best
of my recollection..." posting somewhere else. Make a big deal out of them!
People are interested, they want to know! Notify the winners so they can
post to their journals about it. I guarantee Sofawolf would post something
as soon as we were given any official results about our publications
winning. As it is, I'm hesitant to post something to the journal because I
don't see anything official.

I've just emailed the announcement page to the webop - forgot the award
I asked Mr. Ravencroft at All Fur Fun to e-mail me as soon as the awards
ceremony was done, so we would know that it was officially okay to put the
announcement up on the web site. He wasn't able to do that -- I'm guessing
because there's too much con business to take care of. But, given that the
con is over with now, we should definitely get the web site updated, too
sweet!
Of course, I know that one of the people who helps out a lot with this is
Kay, and I also happen to know she's flat on her back with a cold right now
:P

that it is part one of a novel, "Out of Position". So anybody interested in
acquiring a copy can go to Sofawolf, where the description makes it clear
what sort of content is involved, while the only listing out there that has a
link to the actual text (the author posted it to Yiffstar as a short story)
is on the UMA listing, which states adults only.
Actually, Sofawolf doesn't sell that story as it was originally published;Didn't know that, having never seen the novel. Thanks for the update!

I've added details to that. Unfortunately because we had no representative
from the committee there, we don't really have a report on the proceedings.
I'm hoping that some people have taken photos or even videos of the
ceremony.

ceremony on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Morphicon, held at the
Columbus-Worthington Holiday Inn, Columbus , OH on May 16-18, 2008."
Obviously, this needs updating!
