Should a pending amendment <http://www.sfawardswatch.com/?p=928> be
ratified, it does appear that web sites would be eligible in the Best
Related Work category. Best Web Site has been awarded as a Special
Category twice (2002 and 2005).
But not as a permanent and distinct category, as the discussion in this group
indicates the Ursas are considering.
This is not to argue either side of the case for adding new
categories, just to say that your analogies are a little out of date.
Thanks for the corrections--I appreciate the addition of your expertise. (I
think I was looking at the 2008 Hugo nominee categories, thinking they were
for 2008 works rather than nominations which occurred in 2008.) I should
clarify my main point, which is that the Ursas serve a slightly different
community than the Hugos and have not in the past used the presence or absence
of a Hugo award to validate having an Ursa for the same category--even given
that the Hugos are adding a Graphic Story award this year, they do not have an
"ongoing comic" award (as the Ursas do) and are only just adding the Graphic
Story category, whereas the Ursas have been recognizing that category for a
few years now.
