Dear Everyone;
Nominations for the 2007 Ursa Major Awards close on February 28th. If you have
been putting off sending in your nominations, please do so now.
https://ursamajorawards.org/nominations.htm
Please try to submit at least one or two nominations in all the categories.
Experience has shown that while we get plenty of nominations in categories like
Best Motion Picture and Best Comic Strip, we get so few nominations in some
categories such as Best Other Literary Work and Best Fanzine that there are
often ties of five or six nominees with the same number of nominations, with
less than ten nominations each. The more nominations we get, the less chances
of a logjam for fourth or fifth place on the ballot in those categories.
Remember, the 2007 Recommended List may help you decide what to nominate. In
some cases such as Dramatic Short Work or Series and Published Illustration,
its weblinks will enable you to view the complete works.
Best wishes;
Fred

Dear Everyone;
In 2001, when the Awards were established, it was decided against having a Best
Fursuit category because too many fursuits were only seen at one or two
conventions. The awards are to be voted upon by fans around the world, and
most voters would not be able to see the nominated fursuits to vote on them.
It has been recently pointed out that the situation is considerably different
today. Most high quality fursuits are now photographed and posted on the
Internet, and are as visible as the Published Illustration nominees. Is it
time to add a Best Fursuit category to the Awards?
Another point is that the Awards already have ten categories, which have been
criticized as being too many. Should there be an eleventh?
Best wishes;
Fred

I like this idea.

I don't see the harm in having ten or eleven categories. All the existing
categories make sense to me.

I'd like that. I'm biased, of course.
