Equestria Girls

I want to suggest that Equestria Girls should be disqualified from the 2013
UMAs
The reasons are
1. The Ponies only appear at the the beginning and the end of the film
2. The majority of the film has nothing Anthropomorphic involved

Dear Everyone;

I highly doubt that "Equestria Girls" will be one of my choices for the 2013
final ballot, but if it is disqualified from the Recommended List for
insufficient Furry content, to be consistent we should also disqualify "The
Croods" (Belt, the sloth, is a very minor supporting character) and "Oz, the
Great and Powerful" (a single talking flying monkey; did anyone notice how all
the other flying monkeys are really baboons, to make him stand out?).

I really do not want to get into arguing over whether a recommended title is
"Furry enough".  This has been why the Recommended List has traditionally
accepted everything that anyone recommends.

And so they might.  But there's a lot of time and film on the clock as yet.
And this IS a popular vote award.

This may matter for getting the award - which is nice and all - but arguably
the biggest practical benefit the UMA provides is traffic. There, it seems, the
key comes not from winning the award, or even being a nominee,  but just being
on the Recommended Reading List.

I ran the figures for the last couple of years and Flayrah got about five times
as many visits from the List as we did from our nomination and the results page
combined.

It's not a big benefit, of course. Total visits from the UMA were less than a
thousand in both years; just 0.2% of our total. In addition, the majority of
visits were from people who had visited before. However, UMA visitors had very
high engagement, visiting six to seven pages (our average is two).

The lesson here? Recommend early, recommend often. Which is, of course, what
Kay and Fred have been saying for years.
